The Dogs and Snowmobiles Are Coming!

Well, it's all about to start again very soon.  The 2009 Eagle Cap Extreme sled dog race starts on Thursday, January 15th.  I've already seen sled dogs around town.  Argh!  Skinny mutts. . .photo courtesy of Dr. Randy Greenshields in the LaGrande Observer. . .and they run with booties on their paws.  No self-respecting bed and breakfast cat would think of subjecting herself to this embarrassment.

Our bed and breakfast guest, Trail Boss David, is a pretty good guy, though.  He'll be going out soon to spend the night in the woods with the mushers.  At least I get to see him again on the weekend when the race is over.

The only redeeming thing is they'll start and end the race at the Ferguson Ridge Ski Area, which means there could be some snowboarding action in the meantime.

And then, wow, snowmobilers!  The 5th Annual Wallowa County Winterfest starts up Friday, January 16th with a chili cookoff and Loomix Tub Races.  There'll be dances and poker runs and all sorts of fun stuff to do.  Why spend time with the dogs when I can see snowmobiles?  And the all-u-can-eat CRAB dinner?  Now, we're talkin'. . .Joseph Oregon is a happenin' place this weekend.

She says we still have room at the Bronze Antler Bed & Breakfast for the weekend.  Last guests in will have to fight me for the crab.
