Boehms Candies in Issaquah WAOn the way home to Joseph Oregon from Seattle last week, Heather insisted that we take a moment from the speeding road and visit Boehms Chocolates in Issaquah.  We needed a gift for the neighbors to thank them for cat-sitting Madigan.  She's not so good with can openers so Auntie Roxy makes sure to feed her every morning.

Boehms Chocolates is a Pacific NW institution.  Established in the 1940s by Swiss-Austrian Julius Boehm, the company still makes lovely chocolates and ships them everywhere.

And they're members of the Northwest Chocolatiers Guild.  Now, if we can just figure out how to get a professional chocolatier to open a shop at Wallowa Lake. . .

Showroom at Boehms Chocolates in Issaquah WA is a great stop for Joseph bed and breakfast innkeepersBack on subject, I think it's fun to visit the store.  Lots to see and smell.  And they even have solid chocolate Easter bunnies!

Of course, we couldn't get out of there without a couple of pieces for ourselves.  A small bag of melt-in-your-mouth pecan turtles seemed like the right thing to do.  We couldn't decide whether we preferred the milk chocolate or the dark chocolate.  Both were just heavenly.  The "road food" barely made it to the next exit!

Auntie Roxy received a box of mixed chocolates including the new Mexican-inspired flavors of chipotle and chili (and you can't yet find these on the company's website!).  We passed on the Hawaiian Sea Salt Caramels and Heather really wanted the Licorice Caramels (she's a black licorice fan from way back), but we'll save that for next time.

We'll be sure to recommend Boehms Chocolates to any of our Eastern Oregon vacation guests heading in/out of the Seattle area.  This place is one not to miss.
