Anytime you serve fantastic coffee to guests there's a subliminal desire to drink some of it yourself.  Here at the Bronze Antler Bed and Breakfast we serve Cafe Cartago, a brilliant Costa Rican coffee blended just for us in Denver, Colorado.

We first met Cafe Cartago in Portland back in Spring 2001 when they showed up at the Pacific Northwest Innkeepers Conference.  We sampled their product, loved it, and they sent us home with samples of their three different roasts so we could blend them ourselves into the signature taste we wanted for our newly opening bed and breakfast.

Sip a little Cafe Cartago while enjoying the view from the Chief Joseph Mountain Room at the Bronze Antler Bed and Breakfast--superb Joseph Oregon lodging! It's a small company, founded in 1993, and centers around their roasting operations in Denver and their finca outside of Cartago, Costa Rica, on the slopes of the Irazu volcano.  If you want their full story (which is a very good one, you'll find it here).

It's not that we haven't tried to switch coffee brands and support local roasters here in Wallowa County, but we haven't found a coffee that matches the Bronze Antler Bed & Breakfast Blend of Cafe Cartago.  It's smooth, full-bodied, very pH neutral, and doesn't have an aftertaste.

And of course it's fair-traded, organic, shade tree grown and bird friendly coffee too.  And the unused portions of the coffee beans are composted and used to fertilize the plants in the following year.

Our bed and breakfast guests who prefer coffee enjoy the smell, flavor and taste of Cafe Cartago.  We serve it as part of our breakfast service and have it available in our gift shop to take home.  Sometimes we even get phone calls from prior guests wanting to order more--so we send them directly to Cafe Cartago in Denver.  Just tell them you want the Bronze Antler Bed & Breakfast Blend, because it's not on their website!
