If you live in Eastern Oregon you've got to love (or at least appreciate) rodeo--and the Chief Joseph Days Rodeo is coming up soon in Joseph Oregon. It's always scheduled starting during the week that leads into the last full weekend in July (meaning that Saturday and Sunday are both July dates). This year, the 64th Annual Chief Joseph Days Rodeo is July 22 through July 25, 2009.
The Chief Joseph Days Rodeo website has plenty of information about the event, including how to purchase tickets for the evening performances.
But there are also dances, parades, the Nez Perce Indian encampment Friendship Feast and traditional dancing, a golf tournament--and the general hubbub and excitement of having the rodeo in town!
The Saturday Chief Joseph Days Rodeo parade starts right in front of the Bronze Antler Bed and Breakfast. Our shaded front porch is a great place to view the parade--plus you're close to cold drinks and your own private bath (it is a LONG parade--sometimes over 2 hours of floats, bands, horses, beautiful rodeo queens and their courts, etc.)
Amazingly, we now have two guestrooms available at our Joseph bed and breakfast (recent cancellations opened these rooms). The Ferguson Ridge Room is open Wednesday through Saturday nights of Chief Joseph Days Rodeo week. The Mirror Lake Suite is open for Friday and Saturday nights, July 24 & 25. Either way, you'll have the chance to experience small town, outdoor rodeo at its finest. And we're walking distance to the rodeo arena--a bonus after the performance and one of the few traffic jams in Joseph Oregon.
If you've never seen a rodeo, now is your chance to be initiated. The Chief Joseph Days Rodeo is considered one of the best small town outdoor rodeos. Come visit us and see why.
